FREEGOLF is built for the stage. Their shows are intense, explosive, and collaborative, with a DIY ethos that invites fans to be part of the action. Whether it's a sold-out soccer club or a packed local venue, they give everything they have. The Cochella show at their local club remains a highlight: a floor show with fans spilling onto the stage, grabbing mics, and screaming along, capturing the band’s ability to create a frenzied, unforgettable atmosphere.
FREEGOLF’s sound is a blend of hardcore and post-hardcore, offering a dynamic range of high-energy, emotionally charged tracks. Whether expressing anger, heartbreak, or joy, their music hits every emotional spectrum, aiming to connect with their audience in the most visceral way possible. Their debut single, Wake Up, is just the beginning of what’s to come, with an upcoming EP promising heavier, more defined sounds.
FREEGOLF’s ability to command a room and bring a community together is one of their strongest assets. Their self-organized shows have sold out, and their track record for pulling crowds has made them a rising force in Adelaide's hardcore scene. Each performance is about more than just the music—it's about creating an experience fans will remember long after the final note.
With a growing following and ambitions to take their show on the road, FREEGOLF is targeting Melbourne next, aiming to play support slots and bigger shows in hardcore hubs across the country. Their relentless energy and commitment to live performance make them an essential act for any hardcore lineup.

“Freegolf have arrived on the doorstep of Adelaide’s music scene with a brash confidence. ‘Wake Up’ takes an abundance of ’90s alt-rock touchpoints and packages them into a tight two-and-a-half minutes that demonstrate an understanding of how to whittle your influences into something striking and original.
The latter half of the track is imbued with the same anthemic spirit as the Australian rock songs that form the backbone of triple j’s Hottest 100 since its inception. If you’re sleeping on Freegolf, we’d advise you to ‘Wake Up’.”
The Note
“Quite a few bands give you a hint as to their genre, sound, or image with their name. Free Golf gives nothing away at all. Opening for Pest Control at their single launch was their first show. You wouldn't have known it if they didn't tell you.
The band has an infectious energy and a hard-hitting post punk groove that had the whole room electrified. Their songs are punchy and sharp, razor guitars and pummelling bass and drums give an irresistible sense of forward motion, with the power of Chris Lucas's vocals cutting through and leaving the audience with no doubt what this band is about.
They are heavy but don't lumber, and their positive energy fills a room and picks everyone up with it. They are definitely one of the new bright lights in the Adelaide scene.”
